Most days I wake up looking like the crypt keeper. This is no exaggeration – blessed as I may be with clear skin, the dark puffy circles under my eyes somehow didn’t get the memo. If I went on the subway without under eye concealer, I could probably get a seat purely by frightening people. Luckily, I found Benefit Erase Paste in high school and have been getting by without terrifying the general public. I could never really break up with the concealer that took me through late high school nights & early practices and then through hangovers and all nighters in university. However, I can honestly say that there’s a new concealer in my life and it might just be magical.
When I saw the magic that is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer on Beautezine, I knew this could be the one product to tear me away from my holy grail concealer. I was right. Creamy, blendable and capable of imparting a 12-hours sleep radiance, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer has full-to-medium coverage and can cover up the worst of dark circles. I know, talk is cheap. That’s why I’ve bravely taken photos of my pre-concealer face:
As you can see, the concealer’s brightening effect really is magical. It completely erases the sins of late nights or perpetual eye-rubbing. For another before & after, check out The Glitter Geek.
The concealer comes in a tube much like NARS lip glosses and has a doe-foot sponge applicator for easy on-the-go use. I find this concealer lasts at least until lunch, with it sometimes holding on ’til end of day. It doesn’t crease, either – a major griping point for most concealer formulas. I’m the type that’s constantly rubbing my eyes, so take that into consideration when evaluating the concealer’s wear – I bet it would 12+ hours on someone less fidgety.
I purchased the Vanilla shade, which is designed for fair skin with pink undertones. This is one product that I definitely recommend testing out in-store first – I had to try on a couple of shades before I found “the one”. In the end, I went with the shade that offered more brightening (and I’m glad I did). With 10 shades to choose from, there’s a very good chance you’ll find your perfect match.
The best thing about this concealer? It doesn’t look like you have any makeup on at all. At $28 CDN, you’ll still have enough spending money for a grande Bold at Starbucks (hey, I said it made you *look* awake, not feel it).
Disclosure: I saw this product on Beautezine, stalked the NARS counter at Holt Renfrew until it launched and then bought it. That’s how blogs are supposed to work, right?
Your freckles are gorgeous - I find that they make skin look so young. You look beautiful in these pictures.
Wow, it really does brighten. I've been a loyal user of Tarte clay concealer but just might pick up a tube next time!
@KellyChow PS. I've never given the Tarte one a try - might have to be my next test!
@stephaniefusco It used to be a liquid and now is a solid clay, it stays on incredibly well but creases at times and definitely does not brighten as well as it seems this Nars concealer has! You look absolutely stunning even without the makeup though so I highly doubt much makeup is needed ;).
@KellyChow Right? It's kind of mind-blowing. Definitely give it a shot the next time you're at a NARS retailer.
What a great review! And I love the multi-photo example. It really does brighten up the under eye area. A friend and I were going to Eaton Centre tonight to find her wedding shoes but I think we'll take a little detour and try this out. She'll definitely want that bright-eyed look on her wedding.
@donnavitan Thanks, Donna! Trying my best to be a better blogger and actually take photos ;) toughest part for me.
This concealer is actually so magical - I've never used anything so brightening. It would definitely add a little something extra to wedding day makeup! Let me know how you + your friend like it :)
Great post Stephanie. This is one of my main issues...dark circles and feeling like a zombie in the morning. I will for sure be buying this! Happy Monday!:)
