I don’t know about you, but my body and wardrobe are clamouring for spring. I may or may not have gotten some very unbecoming splotches from my favourite cashmere sweater this past weekend – virtually unheard of. What this obviously means is that I’m becoming allergic to winter. Completely normal, right?
Last week I got a little taste of spring at the LOFT Spring 2014 preview and have been praying for an end to our cold snap ever since. This season’s motto? Life is in the details. From scalloped edges, tiny bows, touches of lace and nubby knits that feel like loungewear, LOFT delivers.
Here’s what I experienced with some of my favourite bloggers, including Elaine from Toronto Beauty Reviews, JJ from SFYGF, Amanda from Heartless Girl, Tiffany from She’s So Savvy, Alex from I’m A Little and my new friend Victoria from Haute Canada.
January is all about the softened shirt at LOFT. These toppers have a pre-washed feel while managing to look mega-polished. They’re as cozy as your old sweatshirt but are 100% office appropriate. I’ve got my eye on the spotted button-downs ($54.50) and the Modern Peplum Tee ($49.50), not to mention the embellished sweatshirt ($54.50).
Moving into February, I can’t help but want to add this scallop fit & flare dress ($89.50) to my wardrobe. Hello – it’s pink and has the most adorable scalloped neckline. Add some baubles, a cute cardi and your best pair of leopard print pumps and you’ve got yourself the perfect Valentine’s Day date outfit.
I can’t wait for March’s slew of indigo. My favourite pieces at the preview were this textured moto bomber jacket ($98) and nubby knit tank dress ($79.50). These pieces are incredibly touchable. If I have to wear something at work all day long, it had better be as comfortable as possible while still retaining a polished, tailored look & feel. These fit the bill in a big way. And the fit & flare dress? The perfect dress up or down piece and mega-flattering on all figures.
Also arriving in March are shades of off-white, white and blush. From the ruffled sleeves on the blush shift dress and lacy details on dresses, shirts and skirts, you’ll be set for spring & summer in effortlessly chic pieces. Afraid of the white-on-white trend? From milky whites to creamy ivories and a pretty blush, you’re sure to find the perfect shade to mix and match.
As always, one of my favourite parts of the LOFT collection was the accessories. Each season, LOFT comes out with covetable pieces at a great price point that allow you to accessorize without sticker shock (or guilt). I’m not much of a clutch girl (I have enough trouble keeping my head on straight without using a purse that is easily set down & forgotten), but these have set my heart aflutter. From the floral embroidered beaded hard clutch to the perfectly spotted dot print hard clutch and chevron geo hard clutch ($49.50 each), it’s easy to envision these with just about any outfit.
Also on my radar for spring? These too-cute-to-be-true bow flats. They come in black, tan and beige and, mark my word, they’ll probably all end up in my closet.
Some of these pieces are already in store, so head to your local LOFT to get your shop on!
