It’s only fitting that my first post of 2017 (hello!) is about weddings. We have 6 this year! On Saturday night, one of my favourite brides-to-be and I headed to the Industry & Media VIP preview of the WedLuxe Show at the Carlu. The WedLuxe Show is my favourite wedding event in the city – you can’t beat the luxury wedding inspiration and experience – and I’m ecstatic that I still have an excuse to go two years after being a bride myself.
From the moment we walked into the entryway of this year’s show, I knew we were in for a treat. The gorgeous gold-veined marble-look flooring and on-trend leafy greens, boxwood hedges and gold chandeliers definitely set the tone. Keep reading for the top wedding trends for 2017 from this year’s WedLuxe Show!
From custom flooring reminiscent of a luxury hotel to the Moroccan-inspired, fully-draped Mirage Lounge & Spa, there was inspiration abound around every corner. These opulent details take any event to the next level. If you’re getting married this year, consider upgrades like custom flooring, full-room draping and furniture rentals, table decals and specialty stationery to really make a splash.
Amanda and I both swooned over these laser-cut floral invitations from Ferris Wheel Press – they’re a contender for her big day! They also remind me a bit of our wedding invitations with the floral motif – so stunning.
Walking into a wedding and seeing one of these tablescapes is sure to take your breath away. The lush greenery trend from the past three years isn’t going anywhere, but I love how this year’s vendors re-imagined it. A bride looking to cop this look for her big day could look to high-low arrangements with lots of greenery, lush garlands, and incorporating brass objets.
The powder blue details combined with crystal and gold elements here are visually stunning and a bit unexpected. One thing that really upgrades the look: the blue ombre candles!
If your idea of luxe is a lush bed overflowing with flowers, this forest-chic look is for you! While this look is a bit more rustic, it’s incredibly glam – and how cute are those gold succulents in teacups as escort cards.
Ooh La La Designs had one of my favourite set-ups of the day. I love how simple this is – monochromatic white + green with a hit of gold – yet so visually stunning! This look is easy to emulate at your event, too. Layer textures to keep things interesting and focus on simple florals with a big impact.
My favourite part: candy-coloured confections! Muted pastels reinterpreted look incredibly chic and add an understated elegance – even when the design is completely over the top.
Marie Antoinette would be thrilled with this display from Nadia & Co. I love how the cakes so artistic and beautifully made.
Looking for a cake alternative or really want to amp up your sweets table? These towers from Patricia’s Cake Creations go beyond the usual macaron with complementary towers of iced cream puffs and meringues, each topped with lifelike sugar flowers.
Bobbette & Belle never disappoint, but I can’t get enough of this trio of multi-tiered cakes with their signature design work. Delicate lace, shimmering beading and unique pleats make these cakes showstoppers. Speaking of Bobbette & Belle, I’d be remiss if I didn’t show you my 1.5-year-old wedding cake that we just defrosted over the weekend. Looks as good as it did on our wedding day!
Last but not least…I can’t help but share two little takeaways that would make the perfect favours for your guests. These stunning handmade doughnuts from Cakes by Zehra are visually stunning and were pretty darn delicious to boot!
I’ve been enamoured with Fancy Pufs since I first encountered them at last year’s WedLuxe Show, so it should come as no surprise that I’m obsessed with their new boxes full of cotton candy dreams (they’ll be available online + shipping worldwide soon). Their white and gold cotton candy card would be at home at any event – like perhaps my 30th birthday in a few years, pssst… – and, let’s face it, you get the perfect photo opp with their gorgeous puffs as well.
Are you planning a wedding this year? What caught your eye from this year’s WedLuxe Show? Let me know in the comments…and, who knows, maybe you’ll see a bit more wedding content coming your way in 2017!
Disclosure: Thanks to WedLuxe for the complimentary passes to this year’s event! I loved it, as always. Please invite me back. xo
