3 Advent Calendars To Buy Right Now

Resist if you feel you must, but once Nov. 1 rolls around it’s officially time to countdown to the holidays! At least according to retail, but I’m alright with that. I had a bit of a sneaky start to my holiday-loving extravaganza when the Oh Joy! for Target holiday collection launched last weekend, but as of this past weekend I’m raring to go.

I love all things holiday, but I especially love the anticipation leading up to the day. The parties, the gift shopping, the wrapping, the decorating…I love it all! I also love counting down with an advent calendar – what could be better than a tiny treat for yourself each day leading up to the main event? Here are the 3 non-traditional Advent calendars I’ll be racing to get my paws on this year.

DavidsTea 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar

The DavidsTea Advent calendar is notoriously hard to get. It sells out online within hours each year, but you can still find it in stores (hot tip: Bayview Village had some as of yesterday!). Featuring 24 delicious holiday teas in re-sealable mini tins, this calendar is a nice alternative to the traditional sugar-binge calendar. You get 2-3 servings out of each tin in my experience, so it’s well worth the money as well! The tea selection ranges from herbal to caffeinated and includes some of my favourites like Buddha’s Blend and Sleigh Ride. DavidsTea 24 Days of Tea, $34.50

Benefit Cosmetics Advent Calendar 2014

If you know me, you know I love my beauty minis. I keep them stocked up and ready for vacation, overnighters or deskside beauty emergencies and, let’s face it, who doesn’t love something so tiny and cute? Benefit’s Advent calendar is chock-full of adorable beauty minis and little surprises like hair ties and jewelry. Yes, it’s on the pricey side but it’s so fun to find a trial-size lipgloss or primer behind the door. Again, it’s a great value considering the amount of product you receive. The calendar includes some of my Benefit favourites like BadGal Lash Mascara, Posietint and The Porefessional. I received one as a gift from the Benefit team last year and actually squealed – it’s the best. Buy one now. Benefit Advent Calendar, $119 at Sephora

23 days of chocolate…and a day of coffee

Starbucks Advent Calendar 2014

If you’re looking for a twist on the traditional Advent calendar, Starbucks has you covered. The coffee giant’s offering is an adorable magnetic chalkboard that you can hang up for the holidays and re-use later. The chalkboard is covered in brightly-coloured numbered tins that house a chocolate-covered graham and one lucky tin contains a $5 mini Starbucks Card. I love how bright it is! Get this for a sugar rush followed by a boost of caffeine on one magical day. Starbucks Advent Calendar, 29.95  online & in stores.

David’s tea = yes for me, No to the benefit one, that’s way overpriced for what little items you get, but it is cute.
