3 things to do right now

Happy one-day-to-the-weekend! It’s been a pitch-y week around here –  I presented my first-ever pitch (!!) on Monday, which was awesome, and am headed to The Pitch powered by Cision & Umbra at Social Media Week tonight where I acted as a first-round judge. The students from HumberPR & Centennial PR will be going head-to-head in pure pitch mode at the Windsor Arms tonight during the final round. Come join us by registering here.

1. Learn to #hashtag

2. Get Organized

More than a few years out of school, I still get pangs for new supplies every fall. My favourite adult way to indulge? Agendas. As digitally-savvy as I am, there’s something so lovely about writing things on actual paper. The best agendas I’ve found this year are the Kate Spade 2014 Agendas sold at Chapters Indigo. After spotting it on the Instagram feeds of some of my similarly-inclined internet friends, I went on a bit of a wild goose chase to find the gold foil polkadot one.

This sturdy, wire-bound agenda spans August 2013 to December 2014, with tabbed sections for each month in both a monthly and weekly view format. Each month has its own fun thought – a cute little bonus I look forward to each month.

3. Love Snapchat for more than nude selfies

NARS has grown to become one of my favourite beauty brands, online and off. Offline, I love their Radiant Creamy Concealer, lip pencils, lipsticks and blushes like none other. Online, I love their colourful tweets, sneak-peek photos and propensity to respond to fans (self-included) and share out bloggers’ posts and photos with kind abandon. This week, they helped Snapchat’s campaign to change its image from nothing but a nude-photo-sharing platform when they used the platform to preview their Guy Bourdin collection.

I love the idea of surprise & delighting fans with a self-destructing, unique piece of realtime content. I can’t wait to see which other brands flock to the platform – and hope I get the opportunity to do something this awesome for some of our clients.
