About Me

Hi! Welcome to my blog and portfolio.

I’m Stephanie; chatterbox / intrepid baker /wannabe photographer / shoe collector / politics nerd /music lover / feminist / blogger.

I’m recently completed a post graduate certificate in public relations  at Humber College and loved every second of it. Now, I’ve assumed the role of assistant manager, marketing & corporate communications at Maritz Canada Inc., a full-service marketing agency in Mississauga.

I always thought I wanted to go to law school and fancied myself a brunette Elle Woods. However, during my fourth year of political studies at Queen’s University, I discovered public relations thanks to some professors who apparently knew me better than I knew myself.  The same professors got me started in social media.  Something tells me I’ll be eternally indebted to them.

I started blogging during a third year class assignment for Sex, Gender & Popular Culture.  My sassy and sometimes sarcastic commentary on feminist issues ended up being a hit with the peers who read my posts, inspiring me to continue once the assignment ended.  The blog now extends far beyond the scope of feminism.

As for the future, I’m torn between lifestyle PR and public affairs. I love crisis communications, working at buzzing events, beauty and fashion.  My dream job would encompass all of these things, with a strong focus in writing, strategy and new media.  Have a match? Please let me know!

I’m open to freelance writing, public relations and social media contracts.

Want to hire me? Just want to connect?

What people are saying about me:

“Stephanie was the first person to volunteer for an opportunity to work with me on developing a one-hour social media workshop for a group of Humber diploma students. Stephanie’s professionalism and passion for social media helped to ensure we shared valuable content in the workshop. I appreciated Stephanie’s commitment to a project that went above and beyond her program requirements. Stephanie’s commitment to her PR education, leadership and strong performance are impressive assets for a recent public relations graduate.” June 29, 2011

“Stephanie was on board from day one with the campaign as the individual responsible for public relations and communications. Stephanie proved versatile in communicating ideas that resonated with residents, through social media and traditional venues, as well as in bringing others on board to assist in driving our message to voters.

Her ability to take command of her responsibilities proved to be effective and as a result of her commitment, momentum and team moral continued to progress right to voting day on October 25th. More importantly Stephanie not only understood what needed to be done and delegated, but also threw her time and energy into the ring and worked well alongside other volunteers and campaign workers.

I hope that Stephanie continues to be involved in campaigns be it with political candidates, community organizations and charitable causes as her abilities are naturally suited to the tasks at hand.” June 15, 2011

“Stephanie was an undergraduate student of mine at Queen’s University in 2008-10. She took three courses with me over that time and in the final fourth year seminar called “Political Communications” she demonstrated exceptional creativity in a political advertising campaign she created. Stephanie is bright, personable and hard-working and am happy to recommend her in any position that requires innovation, design and clear communication.” June 25, 2010

“I connected with Stephanie because she is an early adopter of digital technology and social media. Working together I found Stephanie to be articulate and insightful, a real out-of-the-box innovator. She is a natural leader and high achiever. If you are seeking to hire a critical and creative thinker with solid digital/social media know-how, excellent communication skills, and an upbeat, professional attitude, seek out Stephanie Fusco. “A fellow student with me at Queen’s University in the Department of Political Studies, I had the pleasure of studying with Stephanie over our four years at Queen’s. From the very beginning it was clear that she had a passion and thirst for knowledge. This passion displayed itself most prominently in a fourth year seminar we both took, Political Communication. Stephanie’s final project, a communications and marketing plan for electoral reform in Ontario (which can be viewed on her website!), was incredibly professional and deservedly earned top marks. Anyone looking to hire or work with a young, smart, and budding communications virtuoso would be wise to bring Stephanie on board!” August 3, 2010
