Bare + Bright

This spring, I’m loving the look of fresh, clean skin with lightly flushed cheeks and bright, bold lips. So much so that I may have picked up three new lipsticks during Sephora’s VIB Rouge sale. I’d say I’m sorry…but I’m not, really. Read on for how to get the look.

Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere remains my favourite everyday base. I don’t need much coverage but I think everyone can benefit from a bit of a boost. This lightweight & sheer foundation is cooling and blends beautifully. A couple of pats of MAC Prime Pot on my eyelids neutralizes redness and negates the need for shadow. For a bit of an extra glow, I put Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector in the inner corners. I layer on NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla in triangle shapes under my eyes, let it dry a bit and then blend with a dampened Beauty Blender. Don’t forget to fill in your brows!

A quick contour with Benefit Hoola, my favourite matte bronzer, a dusting of Tartelette Amazonian Clay Blush in Celebrated on the cheeks and a few layers of TooFaced Better Than Sex mascara and we’re good to go. Onto the lipstick!

Before I get into the shades themselves, let me tell you a bit about the formula and the brand. Bite products are crafted by hand right here in Toronto and contain 12 edible oils. Their lip products are also created with natural and food-grade ingredients, which means you can feel less terrible about the 7lbs of lipstick the average woman apparently eats in a lifetime.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick: SORBET

Sorbet is billed as juicy watermelon shade, but on me it’s more of an amped-up everyday shade. It’s the first of the new Amuse Bouche range that I purchased and the one that convinced me to go back for two more. The shades apply beautifully and stay on for hours!

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick: GIN FIZZ

Gin Fizz is an orchid pink that is the exact shade of the Body Shop gloss I was obsessed with as a teenager. The purple-y/pink shade is just perfect for spring and just enough out of my comfort zone to be extra-exciting to wear. I was nervous it’d make my teeth look a bit yellow, but they still look bright.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick: SANGRIA

Don’t judge: this is basically Holt Renfrew Pink aka my most favourite saturated pink. I love how it stains my lips when it wears down – it lasted through my latte, coconut curry lunch and an afternoon snack before I had to reapply.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance spring look with a bit of oomph, definitely give this bright & bare spring makeup look a try! It feels just perfect for spring and the bright lips really wake up your face. Let me know which shade you love best in the comments! xo
