Charlie’s Big Challenge: #NutramOTC

Until a few weeks ago, I thought our kitten, Charlie, just wasn’t super-motivated by food. Sure, she likes her treats and would dutifully eat her dinner, but she never dashed to her bowls like the kittens in those commercials or polished the bowl clean overnight.

This changed once I introduced her to Nutram, a new all-natural Canadian pet food. Along with some other Canadian pets, Charlie was invited to participate in the Nutram Optimum Transition Challenge. That’s a fancy way of saying we agreed to test out a new food and slowly transition her to it over 30 days.

After her first introduction to Nutram – yes, when I tried to take photos of her with the bag for this post and she tried to get the food out all on her own – Charlie started picking around her old food and refusing to eat it unless it was all that was left in the bowl. We’ve now gotten to the point where she’ll refuse the old food completely. Cats.

Kitten Nutram Sound Food Review

After figuring out Charlie’s Nutram Number, we opted for the S1 Nutram Sound Balanced Wellness Natural Kitten Food, a chicken & salmon recipe with green lentils. Here’s what the website has to say about this recipe:

Formulated with Optimum Combinations™ of Salmon Oil and Flaxseed, rich sources of Omega-3 fatty acids, support the normal cognitive development in your young pet. Cranberries and Celery Seeds also work together to facilitate healthy bladder function. Cranberries, a natural acidifier, and Celery Seeds, an effective diuretic used to maintain healthy fluid levels, working together with proper pH and moderate ash levels support urinary health. You can be confident that your kitten is getting a healthy start with this healing, wholesome and nutritionally sound recipe.

What this means to us: Charlie is happy as a clam with her new food and seems to genuinely look forward to mealtime. She now chows down on her meals instead of picking at her food. And, TMI, but we’ve noticed her digestion has really improved. We used to have a super flatulent kitty on our hands (she could really clear a room…), but that issue has resolved since we got her started on Nutram. We’ve also noticed that she’s been using the litter box in a healthier manner, which is a big relief since she hasn’t had the best of luck health-wise.

How to transition your pet to a new food Nutram

On top of her being completely obsessed with it, I’m really happy to be feeding it to her as a cat mom. It checks all the boxes:

  • It’s naturally preserved and hormone-free!
  • It’s made from all-natural ingredients with no corn, wheat or soy added.
  • It’s prepared by a certified holistic nutritionist in a private facility right here in Canada
  • It’s complete and balanced nutrition that supports proper digestion and nourishes pets’ total well-being

If you’re looking to make a healthier choice for your pet, it’s definitely worth giving Nutram a try! I’ve found the price of the food to be comparable to other pet foods and, even if it wasn’t, it would be worth the price to keep Charlie this happy with her food. She’s a convert!

[disclaim]I was compensated for Charlie’s involvement in the Nutram OTC program but, as always, my opinions are my own. I’m sharing this because Charlie loves the food and I think your pet might, too! [/disclaim]
