As much as I love to play with makeup, sometimes you just need to get out the door in a hurry. For me, that means relying on a clean and easy holiday look and swapping in a different lip shade to customize for the occasion. Keep reading to see my go-to look and my new favourite matte drugstore lippie!
To get out the door in a flash, I always rely on Dior Eye Reviver Backstage Pros Illuminating Neutrals Eye Palette. It’s a mouthful, I know. This $69 shadow palette can go from casual to cocktails depending on how you use the shades.
I perfect my skin with my new favourite, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation. The best thing about this? You just swipe it on and buff it in with a beauty blender or brush and get amazing, buildable coverage. I hide my under-eye circles with Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer and then brighten with my HG concealer, NARS Creamy Radiant concealer in Vanilla.
To contour, highlight and define, I sweep Benefit Hoola bronzer under my cheekbones and along the hairline and jaw, highlight along the cheekbones, inner corners and cupid’s bow with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop and then define the cheeks with NARS The Multiple in Maui. Don’t forget to fill in your brows! I love Anastasia Brow Wiz. For lashes, I’m testing out Revlon Mascara Ultra Volume but Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is my usual big, fat lash go-to.
Switch it up
I recently got my paws on Revlon’s new Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in three shades and fell in love immediately. The formula is fantastically comfortable: a velvety matte that wears beautifully and swipes on perfectly. The one downside: it’s a bit stinky (a baby powder-y floral). It bugs me every time, but I get over it for the formula. Did I mention it retails for $11.49? Such a steal.
This screams Kylie Jenner to me. I was so wary of this shade in the tube – it looked muddy – but it turned out to be a gorgeous neutral. I love the rosy hue and especially love it with an amped-up eye look. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Seduction.
Party Girl Perfect
This feels like it should be a summer shade, but it’s surprisingly so wearable for winter. I slicked it on for a friend’s Fancy A-F party and, paired with my feather vest and a fascinator, felt so festive. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Temptation.
Classic & Seductive
This shade just screams holiday – and I have it on good authority that this is Revlon’s Canadian PR Manager’s fave shade of the range. I usually shy away from darker shades, but I love that I can make this one less ostentatious with a quick blot. Perfect for any party! Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Passion.
Which of these shades will you sport this season? I’m looking forward to stepping out in Passion next week as we celebrate Christmas.
