Toronto is clinging to summer in a serious way – hello, 40-degree days + crazy humidity! – but I’m craving crisp, cool air and cozy cashmere sweaters. It’s happened slowly, but I can feel the fall nesting kicking in. If you’re also cozying up and hunkering down for the best season, here are 5 items to help you upgrade your life for fall.
We start spending more time at home in the fall. Summer nights are meant for patios, but fall evenings are for warming dinners, a crunchy-cool walk and then cozying up on the couch with some American Horror Story. I love my Saje diffusers because they not only help to purify the air but they also act as humidifiers – both musts in our forever dusty & dry condo. Diffusing Tranquility
before bed all but guarantees a restful sleep and liquid sunshine
is the perfect pick-me-up.
This lip mask is lovely year-round, but I can already tell it will be my lifesaver during the fall. Enriched with agave, jojoba oil and resveratrol, this thick lip soother nourishes and moisturizes your lips. I rub extra on my cuticles to ease their naturally-ragged nature. Leave it on overnight and you’ll never have parched lips again.
In case you, like me, use any excuse to buy a new mug, let fall be it. This retro-adorable mug is just begging to be filled with steaming hot apple-cinnamon tea on a crisp night. Now, imagine that same tea spiked with a bit of bourbon and enjoyed in this mug around a campfire. That’s fall perfection right there.
Forgive me for showing you this be-bowed cashmere sweater, since it’s $350 and I’m sure you’ll be as unlikely to resist it as I was. I bought this back in early August and have been saving it for the perfect moment. Made of the softest cashmere and cut just right, I love the bow details that add a little something extra where you aren’t expecting it. For serious Cinderella vibes, get it in blue.
We stock up on these locally made jars of dry soup mix whenever we find them at Evergreen Brickworks and they’re the ultimate lifesaver. Dump the contents into your favourite soup pot with 8 cups of water, boil, cover and simmer for an hour and you’ll have the most delicious, warming soup. We’re partial to the Spicy Coconut Lentil and Moroccan Lentil soups. I love that you can feel good about these knowing they’re prepared in smaller batches and by hand…and that they’re the most foolproof dinner ever, especially with a warmed baguette.
That’s all for now! What are your favourite fall upgrades? xo
