Get the Look: Dior Holiday 2014

Are you sick of holiday content yet? I sure hope not, because I’ve been waiting to share this holiday collection & party perfect look with you for ages now! I received the Dior Golden Shock Holiday 2014 Collection back when there wasn’t any snow on the ground and it was warm enough to take photos outdoors sans shoes. You can hardly remember it, right? I know the feeling. This collection is just the thing to brighten your day, though. It’s stunning!

It’s normal to want it all.

Diorific Vernis

I always love receiving nail polish because, as has been well documented here, I lack self restraint and like to try things IMMEDIATELY. That’s tough to do when you need pristine powders and un-touched lipsticks, but you can totally sneak a try of a polish without anyone being the wiser.

You can see why I couldn’t help but try these on immediately: luxurious, right? These are too adorable to be stuck away in the beauty closet – they’ve been out on my vanity & desk since they arrived! Housed inside the beautiful gold & glass bottles are four beautiful holiday shades + a gold foil topcoat (the perfect holiday red – 762 Shock – is missing from this photo).

L – R: Diorofic Vernis in Gold Equinoxe, Mirror, Diorific Golden Shock Top Coat and Smoky ($28)

They apply pretty well but you will need 2-3 coats to get an opaque coverage. I have been wearing the gold foil topcoat on top of absolutely every polish in my collection, but I particularly love it over Mirror for a festive but not overdone look.

5 Couleurs Palettes

The classic Dior 5 Couleurs palettes never disappoint. The holiday offerings are a smoky metallic palette & a plum/pink & gold pairing that are universally flattering and, of course, go on like a dream. The glittery centre shade is perfect for the holiday season and dresses up any basic look. Gift one to a girlfriend if you’re feeling generous. (Dior 5 Couleurs, $61)

Dior 5 Couleurs 046 Golden Reflections is an upgrade to the classic smokey eye thanks to the bronze shade and glittery centre shadow. The colour payoff is excellent, as you’d expect from Dior.

The collection also included the glitteriest cream shadow ever – Diorshow Fusion Mono in Mirror ($32) – that I completely forgot to photograph. It is essentially a discoball for your eyes. Get it for New Years eve, trust me.

Dior Addict Gloss

A slinky, sheer holiday glitter & a my-lips-but-better pinky red round out the collection from Dior.

Dior Addict Gloss 064 Gold Rain adds a sheer wash of glitzy colour to any shade but you can also wear it alone for a nude, subtle look with a dash of glam. Dior Addict Gloss 663 Pink Excess enhances your lips without being overbearing. It’s an excellent entry level holiday red lip with a little sprinkle of glitter. (Dior Addict Gloss, $31 *not at Sephora)

Diorific Golden Shock Pressed Powder

This is the “ooooohhhh, ahhhhh” item in the Holiday collection. The weighty gold compact is the epitome of luxury…and then you open it up to see the beautiful golden pressed powder inside.

This highlighter is a bit glittery off the top, but you’ll find a silky shimmer beneath. Use it on cheeks and on the brow bone for a luxurious glow all season long and well into the summer months.  It’s exclusive to Holt Renfrew, so run run run right now. (Poudrier Diorific Golden Shock, $82)

Now that I’ve enticed you with the collection, are you ready to get the look? I used the Dior 5 Couleurs palette in 756 Golden Shock to create a smoky, plummy eye with a hit of glittery golden goodness that’ll transition perfectly from work to play.

Apply the lightest shade across the entire lid and up to the brows and then follow with the rose shade on the lid. Blend the plum shade in a V into the crease then wet an eyeliner brush and pat it on as liner. Using a clean brush, apply the gold shadow along the lower lashline and along the inner corners of the eye. Curl your lashes and apply copious amounts of mascara and you’re done!
