Remember when Kate Middleton and Prince William announced their engagement? Madness ensued over the beautiful 100% silk figure-flattering Issa dress the future Duchess wore. I was not immune – I called every Holt Renfrew location in the area hoping to get my paws on the dress but had zero luck. Three years later, it *will* be mine…in the form of Issa’s highly-anticipated collaboration with Banana Republic. The 40-piece collection ranges in price from about $39.50 to $170 and includes dresses, separates and accessories. It launches tomorrow – August 8 – at Banana Republic locations and online. Some of you might even have an email in your inbox allowing you to shop the collection online today 😉
Here’s a sneak peek of some of the collection’s dresses:
Do you see what I see? Here’s the (mega-pricey) Issa original:
And here’s the Banana Republic x Issa replica of Kate Middleton’s engagement dress!
There are a few differences, of course. Instead of being 100% silk, this version is jersey. It also features three-quarter sleeves and a tie-waist along with the original ruching. At $160, it’s way more affordable than the original. So much so that there just may be another dress or two on my wishlist. If we’re being completely honest, I want pretty much all of the dresses in the top row.
This spotted dress below *almost* looks like my favourite leopard print and in my signature shade to boot.
It’s already been spotted on Naomi Watts and fashion blogger Annabelle Fleur from VIVALUXURY and looks to fit just as fabulously as I hoped it would. Speaking of fit – the collection is also available in petites!

This collection looks like it’ll transition perfectly from day to night. These polished, pretty, bold styles in beautiful figure-flattering silhouettes will quickly become closet staples and, given how strong the Middleton effect is, will probably sell out quickly as well. Speaking of effects, I wonder if that engagement dress has any magic left in it… 😉
