Let’s hang out this week

The title of this post says it all – I’m going to be out & about this week and I’d love to see you. Now that we’ve booked our hall and venue (save the date: we’re getting married June 6, 2015!), I’m excited to have a few seconds to breathe and see all the people I’ve been neglecting in the post-engagement haze. No one can really explain the feeling of “NOW WHAT” that comes over you pretty much as soon as the ring lands on your finger. But I digress…

On Thursday I’ll be speaking at Toronto’s first-ever community manager conference, CM1. Realizing the irony in the fact that we create engaging communities all day (and night) but don’t exactly have a real community of our own, The Tite Group, DX3 and FITC have put together this day-long conference to help community managers connect, refresh and learn.

I’ll be speaking on a panel about The Career of Community Management with Casie Stewart (Community), Patrick Tomasso (Grip) and Craig Hodges (Creative Niche). It’s a pretty interesting topic – the career of community management didn’t even exist 5 years ago, yet here we are forging ahead with no real career plan pre-pioneered for us. I’m pretty pumped. If you’d like to come, please use the code SPEAKERVIP to purchase your tickets here.

On Saturday, I’ll be attending another conference, this time for the other half of my double life. Spark Sessions is a Fashion & Beauty Blogger conference run by some of Toronto’s lifestyle, beauty and fashion bloggers. It’s the first dedicated conference for fashion & beauty bloggers in Toronto so I’m curious to see what the various panelists and speakers have to say.

There are still tickets available, but you can also try to win some from the conference’s executive team – some of them are running a contest right now. Check out Dainty Girl, Toronto Beauty Reviews, Summer x Skin . There’s no foolproof secret formula to blogging, so I’m very curious to see what tips & tricks the various panelists and speakers are willing to share. There are also two high-profile keynote speakers lined up: Jeanne Beker and Elaine Lui of Lainey Gossip fame.

Will you be coming to either event? Let me know in the comments (or send me a tweet) so we can say hello!
