Heads up, Canadian beauty lovers: the wait for L’Oreal Wonder Water is over! The at-home, in-shower smoothing treatment for all hair types is finally on shelves in Canada. Well, until I send you all scurrying out to buy a bottle (or three), that is.

If you’re in the dark about this mystical Wonder Water, it’s created with Korean lamellar technology that targets damaged areas of hair in only 8 seconds. Essentially, the lamelles deposit in thin layers to give you a keratin treatment-like softness and shine...in your own shower. Without weighing down your hair. For $10.
After scouring shelves for months, I finally got my hands on a bottle at Shoppers over the weekend and tested it out ASAP. Keep reading to find out about my experience.
How to use L’Oreal Paris Wonder Water 8 Second Hair Treatment
Wonder Water is designed to be used on wet hair, post-shampoo. It’s super easy: just squirt the 20-oz dose (there are 7 helpfully marked on the back of the bottle) onto your hair’s lengths and massage for 8 seconds. Then rinse. Afterwards, you can either skip conditioner or continue with your usual hair care routine.

Outside of it being impossible to know how much you’re applying as you squirt the serum-like treatment onto your hair, it’s pretty simple to use. I ended up shifting all my hair to one side, then the other, to ensure I got through the suggested dose. Wonder Water has a light, pleasing scent – nothing overpowering – and you might feel a bit of a warming sensation as you’re using it.

As soon as I rinsed, I could feel the smoothness from the treatment. My hair can be fairly coarse and frizzy, even after conditioner, so this already seemed like a good sign! Once out of the shower, I rough-dried then blow dried (imperfectly) with a round brush as I usually would, followed by a couple of passes with a large-barrel curling wand.
Should You Buy L’Oreal Wonder Water?
In a word: absolutely. The results were immediately evident: my hair was smooth, super-shiny and incredibly soft. Some unexpected bonuses: my grey hairs (thanks, Izzy) were blending into my usual texture better than before and my year-old highlights had returned to add some dimension to my colour. L’Oreal says this is perfect for any texture and colour of hair, so there’s really no reason you shouldn’t give this a try (unless you naturally have perfect Disney princess hair, of course). With summer on the way, I’m happily throwing my money at anything that promises improved texture and shine!

I wash my hair 1-2x per week, so a bottle should last me about a month. If you’re washing more frequently or need to use a larger dose of product (coarser and longer hair could need 2-3 doses per treatment), this could be an expensive habit. But, as they say… you wear your hair every day!
You can buy the L’Oreal Paris 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment (whoa, that’s a mouthful) in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart. It’s currently only available through third-party resellers on Amazon and only available in-store at Shoppers.
I, for one, will be stocking up! Now that I’ve met my hair treatment match, I’m sending extra love and adoration the way of the Fat Mascara ladies. They first alerted me to this product’s existence and I’m forever grateful!
