Luxe Lipbalm

Dipping temperatures mean only one thing – parched skin and lips.  While this can easily be taken care of with a drugstore brand (Blistex is my personal fave), sometimes you want something a little more luxurious.  Luckily, I took advantage of my 20% off coupon for VIB’s at Sephora this weekend and have some new favourites to share!

Best for: hitting the slopes
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment ($22.50)

This balm comes in three shades and has the added benefit of SPF 25, sure to protect your lips on the slopes this winter.  The clear shade smoothes and soothes while the Rose and Plum do the same while adding just the right amount of colour.  A deep berry stained lip is hot for winter and pink is always pretty – you can’t go wrong with either shade!  This balm has a cult following (I heard about it from a equestrian-inclined friend who swears by it) and I’ve been a convert since summer 2009. Don’t balk at the price – a little goes a long way and these sticks last forever!

Best for: date night (with the promise of goodnight kisses!)
KORRES Lip Butter ($10)

This pretty balm comes in 7 shades and I can’t wait to collect them all.  I picked up the balm in Jasmine (shown) and was amazed by how quickly it soothed my chapped lips. In just a few applications, I’m in love. The colour is pigmented but not very buildable, although this might vary by shade.  Lips feel smooth, not gunky or too slippery and the taste is fairly neutral (and very kissable!). Your date won’t be afraid of this getting all over his face.  Bonus: The balm can be used as a sheer cheek tint AND it’s all natural.

Best for: when you need a little aromatherapy perk (or want to share with your guy)
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm ($10 for two)

You’ll keep one in every pocket this winter.  Available in two SPF 25 varieties (Natural Mint & Shea Butter and Vanilla & Lavender), this balm is the perfect perk me up.  The scent, while not overpowering, is definitely noticeable to the wearer.  The balm is smooth and never sticky and, best of all, completely unisex.  Although the brand is targeted towards men, I’ve had great reviews from every friend to steal this from my makeup case.
