Life-proof makeup

For the last few weeks, it feels like I’ve been “on” 24/7. If I’m not working, I’m blog-working – attending events, taking photos, writing. If I’m not doing either of those things I’m trying to do things like, oh, I don’t know, see my boyfriend and do laundry and wash my hair. Dragging myself out of bed is a challenge – especially when I have a 6 AM date with my personal trainer Joanna. Luckily, I’ve been testing out makeup that can be applied and forgotten about. I’m a little obsessed so I’m going to share my favourite new products from MAKE UP FOR EVER with you today!

Mega lashes. Glossy lips. Defined eyes. All in 5 minutes. Did I mention major lashes?

For the last month or so, I’ve been testing out MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Pencil, Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour, Aqua Eyes eyeliner and the magical Smoky Extravagant Mascara. All of the products became immediate favourites. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua collection features stay-put products that are extremely long-wearing and withstand extreme conditions (like Toronto’s volatile “summer” weather and days at the beach).

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Pencil & MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour

I love the look of lipstick but I’m the worst re-applier in the world. Unless I remember to bring my purse to the ladies’ room, there’s a good chance I could go all day without re-applying. This means that I’m afraid to wear red lips to work for fear of the dreaded ring-mouth. Now that I’ve given MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip and Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour another try, I might just be convinced. The liners coordinate perfectly with the waterproof lip colour and together they provide stay-all-day lip colour. It doesn’t kiss-off or smudge – you won’t see it on your Starbucks cup after your morning coffee or on your boyfriend after a smooch.

The shades go on opaque and matte, but when you add the gloss it’s extreme shine city. Re-applying the gloss keeps my lips comfortable throughout the day. Have I mentioned I rarely need to re-apply after lunch? It’s amazing. I can’t wait to pick it up in a darker shade for fall. The lip liner will be key for darker shades – this lipstick acts like a stain, guys. If it gets on your skin, it will stay there. Get the liner and do yourself a favour. Painting within the lines is so much easier than trying to follow your natural lipline. TIP: Make sure your lips are balm-free before you apply to maximize the staying power. Also make sure to let the lip colour dry before glossing up.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes eyeliner

This eyeliner is everything you want an eyeliner to be: affordable, long-lasting and keeps the raccoon eyes at bay. It glides on easily without tugging at the skin and won’t rub or smudge. I’ve worn this all day and through a downpour and I still came out without a smudge. It comes in 25 smudge-proof shades. I’ll be picking up the black next – it’s perfect for your waterline! ($23)

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara

See those mega-lashes? They’re visible from a mile away thanks to MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara. The newest mascara to hit the market, it delivers long-lasting wear with almost zero clumping. It’s also mega-black. MAKE UP FOR EVER calls this “4D technology” – “an exclusive microdefining wax that envelops the lash surface in ultrablack pigments”.

The cone-shaped brush is pretty awesome. The precision tip is perfect for separating and coating bottom lashes while the fat end delivers mega volume. The mascara does collect majorly on the tip, so you’ll have to really wipe it off in the tube before you go to town. One coat is enough – it’s all I’m wearing in these photos – but you can definitely layer it up for even bigger impact.

I find the mascara wears all day with minimal flaking. The flaking is probably because I’m a notorious eye-rubber – I’m sure you won’t have the same problem. ($28)

I wore these products for my Stylelist Canada Style Council photo shoot. As of yesterday, I’m officially a member! What does this mean? I’ll be sharing my favourite beauty trends and showing you how I interpret the season’s must-haves on the Stylelist Canada website. I’m excited to begin so stay tuned for my contributions. If you’re wondering, I’m wearing my favourite leopard print Pink Tartan fit & flare dress along with a Kate Spade statement necklace I bought for my mom and often re-purpose.

Would you give these long-lasting professional products a try?
