As a beauty-obsessed blogger, I’m 99% sure I say that each and every lipstick shade I lust over is The One. This time, I’m pretty sure I actually mean it in my truest heart of hearts. And no, not just until the next collection comes along. It’s no exaggeration when I say that every girl will want this shade in her collection. The only shade in NARS Summer 2013 collection that isn’t ridiculously bold, Tolède is a long-wearing, natural, my-lips-but-better shade that will become a part of your every day routine with ease.

I found this lipstick when I innocently wandered over to Murale at Shops at Don Mills this past weekend to replace my T3 blowdryer (and take advantage of 20x the points). Once I tried it on, I knew I had to have it. There’s just something about the allure of the perfect lipstick that I couldn’t avoid. It ended up being in good company – as I was cleaning out my makeup tower this weekend, I realized that about half of my lipsticks are NARS. I’m not really all that surprised – the square, black matte packaging is unique and luxurious and the lipsticks never disappoint in terms of colour payoff, longevity and comfort.
NARS Tolède lipstick is no exception – I found this shade wears 4-5 hours and is extremely comfortable even though it’s not especially shiny or sheer. It manages to have staying power along with being hydrating – the holy grail of lipstick, as far as I’m concerned.
NARS Tolède gives your look the kind of instant sex appeal that still manages to be a bit understated – think Brigitte Bardot. While this shade is definitely office-appropriate and perfect for everyday wear, it also gives your lips a certain je ne sais quoi. Day or night, Tolède gives a bit of added oomph to your look without actually looking like you’ve done anything special. The formula is buildable and looks wonderful with or without a gloss on top (although I prefer without).
Tell me that’s not the sexiest, natural shade you’ve ever seen. It really is the perfect pink lipstick – pink without being bubblegum, girly without being twee. Although Tolède is part of the NARS Summer 2013 collection, it’s going to become a permanent part of the NARS range. Now, don’t let that stop you from running out to buy it right now.
NARS Lipstick in Tolede will run you about $30 CAD and is available at Holt Renfrew, Murale, Sephora and some Bay locations.
Disclosure: I bought this product with my own hard-earned money! As always, I hope you love it as much as I do.
