Sometimes I’m a bad blogger. After staring at a computer screen and creating digital content for major brands all day at work, attending events and maintaining relationships at night…let’s just say blogging sometimes falls to the wayside. Unfortunately, this means that some of the awesome events I’m so privileged to attend sometimes don’t make it onto the blog. With that said, here’s a look at some of the things I’ve been able to do over the last couple of months. (And, because people keep asking…what I wore.)
L’Oreal TIFF Red Carpet Style Stars
To kick off TIFF, I joined L’Oreal and Toronto’s best beauty bloggers for an evening of elegance & red carpet style at Panorama lounge. Along with delicious eats and a preview of the hottest red carpet looks, we got to mix & mingle with Eric Del Monaco, Official Hair Artist & Colourist at L’Oreal Paris of Canada and celebrity stylist Johnny Lavoy, Consulting Hair Artist for L’Oreal Paris USA. Both gentlemen were gracious and friendly (and applauded my fun-bun!) and I learned so much. Check out Johnny on YouTube for some awesome tutorials!
I got to hang out with some of my favourite Toronto beauty bloggers, including Elaine from Toronto Beauty Reviews and Meredith (below) from Et Tu And You. I also got to meet Alicia from Funny Face Beauty and Janine from BeautyGeeks. Check out my Lust List for some of my favourite products from this event.
What I wore: Armani dress (thank you, Mom’s closet!) + Chanel bag
Hailo Toronto High Tea @ Windsor Arms
Hailo is here! To celebrate, Hailo Toronto invited some Toronto bloggers to the Windsor Arms for an afternoon high tea.
While we daintily sipped our tea and scarfed down scones in a decidedly unladylike fashion, we heard from a panel including CEO Justin Raymond, social media and digital expert Amber Mac and Hailo drivers about the app. Hailo is awesome. Use the app to summon a Toronto taxi within minutes and receive an expert driver who you can ID via their taxi number and a photo on the app. The best part? You pay and tip through the app. I’ve used it a few times since and it definitely makes traveling around Toronto that much easier.
What I wore: Anthropologie cowl neck sweater, Pink Tartan Tiffany skirt, J. Crew pearls, Secret backseam dot hose, Kate Spade booties.
We Day Toronto
I was fortunate enough to attend We Day in Toronto on behalf of Telus, along with bloggers like Trina Stewart and Sober Julie and media including Sarah Kelsey from Huffington Post. While I was only able to stay for the morning half of the event and the press conference, I had a great time with these ladies and was SO excited to see Justin Trudeau speak to thousands of future political activists. The energy at We Day was truly unlike anything I’d ever experienced.
What I wore: AG denim, Gap tee, vintage St. John blazer
An Evening with Justin Trudeau
When you’re invited to an evening with Justin Trudeau, you certainly don’t say no. Taking place in the former Liberal stronghold of Mississauga, the hall was jam packed with Liberal party supporters excited to see Trudeau speak after announcing his candidacy for Liberal party leadership. Mike & I made friends with everyone around us and there was overall a great vibe in the room. Consider this my plea to you to get involved in politics, no matter which party you support. It’s a good time, I promise. Heck, I met the boyfriend on a political campaign.
I was pretty close to JT. Be jealous.
What I wore: Long-sleeve wrap dress from Want Boutique, Kate Spade booties.
Body Blitz East Launch (+ Queen Margherita Pizza)
I headed over to the newest Body Blitz Spa location with fellow blogger/community manager hybrid Alanna Glicksman of The A List. The spa was unfinished, but what we saw was luxe and relaxing. I hope to head there for an afternoon of pampering and therapeutic waters soon!
This event had a mermaid. And synchronized swimmers dressed as those scary fish from The Little Mermaid. ‘Nuff said.
Hermès Swinging Silk Party @ Berkeley Church
This was the best party I’ve been to all year. I’m eternally grateful to PR gal extraordinnaire Lisa Leveille for having me as her +1 to this fab fashion event. From the moment we arrived at The Berkeley Church, the ’50s rockabilly vibe was palpable. From dance demonstrations to signature bevvies, not a single detail was missed.
Rows and rows of Hermès scarves. Welcome to my fairytale.
