If you love things like delicious fruit and beautiful flowers, it’s probably time to start thinking seriously about saving the bees. This past year, Canada experienced overwhelming losses over the winter of 28.6% of our bee population – up from 15.5% the previous year. These tiny honeybees are incredibly important to us – they help to pollinate over 400 different types of agricultural plants and 1/6 of flowering plant species.
Holt Renfrew’s charitable collaborations are some of my favourites, but they’ve really outdone themselves this time. Collaborating with Canadian handbag designers ela and Burt’s Bees, The H Project will be releasing this limited-edition editor’s pouch on May 1 filled with 3 Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons. In case the ombre ranunculus print of this clutch didn’t convince you to buy it, 100% of proceeds from collaboration sales going to Pollinator Partnership Canada, a notforprofit organization that protects and promotes pollinators and their ecosystems. You know where I’ll be on May 1.
J.Crew has collaborated with New York-based illustrator Donald Robertson to create colourful, quirky bee tees. Available for women and kids, the tees are adorable and 50% of the proceeds will go to help save the bees via Buglife. An adorable tee that also helps to keep the bees alive & happy? Sounds good to me! J. Crew will also sell other bee-related goods to support this cause in select stores, like local honey and candles.
That’s all for now! Which of these chic collabs will you be rushing to get your hands on?
