step into sexy with avon & mumford and sons

Have you ever wondered how to completely and utterly grasp the attention of beauty bloggers? The answer, apparently, is pretty simple! All you have to do is lure them to an event that promises sexy men, sexy music, sexy fragrance and sexy skin. Bam! Captive audience. Last week, I was lucky enough to attend Avon Girls’ Night at the Air Canada Centre, conveniently during the Mumford and Sons concert.

I knew I was in for a real treat when tickets arrived, hand-delivered, to the Marketing Magazine conference I was at for work.

After a few quick touchups (thank goodness for in-car hair straighteners), I picked up Val from I’m Charming You and headed down to the ACC. After skipping the massive lines at the other gates by entering through Gate 2, we headed up to the suite where Avon Girls Night was being held.

We were greeted with an abundance of food, the smiling faces of happy blogger ladies and cheerful Avon representatives. It was the best kind of event, with a mix of ladies I already knew and ones I’d been dying to meet. In attendance were Amanda from Not A Model (we went to Italy together when we were 16!)Paige from FASHIONCharise from Lucky Penny DailyBreanna from Unbrelievable and so many more notable blogs & outlets (The KitLipstick Powder N PaintHealth & SwellnessSweetspot.ca).

Between opening acts, we were introduced to some new Avon products: Step Into Sexy eau de parfum spray ($30), rollette ($15) and luminous body moisturizer ($15) and the Anew Genics treatment cream ($42).

I’m really particular about both my skincare and fragrance (I usually wear Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and am loyal to a G.M. Collins and Clinique skincare combo), but I’ve been really impressed with both products. The Avon representatives described the perfume as transformative and, I’ve got to admit, I found that a little silly at first. However, when I got home and immediately tried it, I completely understood. With top notes of black raspberry, freesia and violet leaf; mid notes of rosewood, ultra violet and butterfly orchid; and base notes of cashmeran, orris root and golden ambers, this fragrance is the epitome of sexy. The notes combine to create a fragrance that is exotic without being overpowering.

Even though an eau de parfum will last a fairly long time, layering it with the body moisturizer and popping the rollette into your purse is the best way to keep the scent lasting all day long. Rollerball fragrances are my new favourite thing – they’re a great way to freshen up en route to an event after a long day at work!

The Anew Genics Treatment Cream was created for all skin types at any age to target key signs of aging and give you younger and more radiant skin overnight. Hugely vain moment: I’m deathly afraid of needles (read: Botox), so I’m big on preventative skincare (yes, I’m 23). The Anew Genics treatment goes on smoothly and isn’t greasy, letting you wake up to skin that’s plump, smooth and firm.

Oh…did I mention we were at the sold-out Mumford and Sons concert? I haven’t been so in awe of a band since my first Death Cab for Cutie concert (against the barriers, on the floor). It seemed like everyone in Toronto was there and the staging made it feel like we were at an outdoor concert.[Also – this photo I took at the concert seems to have traveled far on the interwebs. 7,000+ views!)

Thanks again to Shannon from Hill and Knowlton for the invite – I can honestly say this was one of the best events I’ve ever been to.
