Take a trip to Texas this Spring

All of this warm weather has almost fooled me into thinking spring is here, but I think we all know that’s not the case.

Either way, these sunny faux-spring days are the perfect chance to bust out the spring nail polish colours and at least pretend flip-flop season is nearby.  A few weeks ago, I received two shades from OPI’s Texas Collection from my friends at Langton PR (they also included a bottle of my favourite discontinued polish, Done Out In Deco!) and, to say the least, I was thrilled.

Shades from OPI's Texas Collection - Too Hot Pink To Hold Em & I Vant To Be A-Lone Star

The first coat of Too Hot Pink To Hold Em goes on in a sheer, shiny way that reminds me of jelly shoes.  Although the coverage wasn’t enough to wear one coat alone, I’ll definitely be experimenting with layering other colours underneath.  After two or three coats, the colour becomes the perfect spring-y hot pink, a deep watermelon sort of colour.  My mom has already informed me she’ll be swiping the colour from my collection for her pre-vacation pedi.

I Vant To Be A-Lone Star, at first glance, is what my friends described as a ‘Beyonce’ type of colour.  Don’t be afraid of the colour you see in the bottle – after two coats this polish becomes the perfect spring neutral.  A silvery blue colour, it looks best on short nails & will easily match any outfit.  The colour is unexpected and adds a little bit of starpower to your look.

While I was immediately excited to try on the pink shade (and stripped off the red polish I was wearing right away), I was a little wary of the blue/grey shade.  However, after testing out both shades I can safely say they’ll both be in high rotation this spring.
