The 7 Best Advent Calendars for 2016

Does your holiday meter flip its switch at midnight on October 31? You’re not alone! While I don’t go full-on Christmas for some time, I start a little bit of seasonal cheer on November 1. Small things, like swapping our pumpkins for golden acorns and our tombstone for a deer snowglobe.

As strange as it may seem, do not wait to buy your advent calendars. Ok, you can wait to buy the chocolate ones…but not these. Buy them now! Advent calendars have taken off in the last few years and I always use them as an excuse to treat myself. I’ve rounded up the best advent calendars for 2016 below. Let me know your favourites in the comments!

DAVIDsTEA Advent Calendar, I can’t quite quit you. Maybe it’s because you’re so darn cute each year, or that my mother-in-law now gifts you to me as soon as you come out. Or maybe it’s because you’re so easy to enjoy and fun to explore. Featuring 24 different blends for each day of December before Christmas, this adorable calendar full of delicouis tea will keep you cozy, calm and refreshed until Christmas. And beyond, if we’re feeling honest: each tin contains more than one serving of tea, so you can easily stretch this into the new year! At $169, this is the most expensive advent calendar on this year’s list. But, with a $300+ value, it’s also one of the best deals! If you’re a Body Shop aficionado, you’ll want to get your hands on the Ultimate Beauty Advent Calendar (or its little sister, The Body Shop Beauty Advent Calendar). The perfect mix of beauty tools, bath & body products and makeup, the Body Shop’s Advent Calendar is a full month of beauty surprises. Available in-store and online for $169.

The Ultimate Zen:
Advent Calendar To Colour

Craving a bit of time to yourself this season? This adorable coluring book Advent Calendar will entice you to set aside a bit of time each day to colour in the holiday scene. The book will stand up on its own when opened for display, but can also be folded and tucked away until it’s complete. This is such a sweet idea for kids, but also great for adults who might want a little zen and mindfulness during the season. Available in-store and online at Indigo for $12.95.

Which of these will make your list this year? I’m still gutted that you can’t get the uber-pricey but also amazing and wonderful Jo Malone and Diptique calendars here in Canada, but these will fill the void until they do! xo
