Hear me out for a second. Yes, I’m suggesting you watch a Backstreet Boys documentary. Yes, I realize it’s not 1998. When one of my blogger buddies posted a snap of her watching Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of on Netflix it took approximately 40 seconds for me to locate it and press play. A rabid fan since the Tiger Beat days, I knew I’d love the movie no matter what. I wasn’t expecting it to be so raw, insightful and interesting.
Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of goes beyond the typical ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at stardom and showcases the true highs & lows as the Backstreet Boys evolved. I found the Lou Pearlman storyline captivating, as was the inclusion of a very real fight between Brian & Nick (my favourites, if you’re curious). Even with the emotional individual stories – each of the guys cries at least once – the movie never skews cheesy. I was more than pleasantly surprised by how watchable #BSBTheMovie was.
Based on the feedback I got on my Instagram pic last week, a lot of you agree this is a must-watch. Queue it up on Netflix this weekend and then let me know what you think!
