First thing’s first – it’s been one of those weeks where I’ve lost that lovin’ feeling for this old blog. It happens to the best of us. As much as I prepared content – I took a ton of (natural light!) photos during my extra-long agency weekend – I just couldn’t bring myself to sit down and write. I’m probably experiencing a bit of burn-out, but I’m back and
raring, ok, struggling, to go. Bear with me – the spark will come back!
I’ve got a bunch of great new things to share with you this week so let’s get to it!
a new neighbourhood nook[line]
You know that feeling you get when you walk into a place and it’s just pure magic? The kind of magic that makes you want to move right in? That’s what happened to me when I first set foot in Bobbette & Belle‘s Queen St. E. bakery & cafe just about a year ago. In the year since, I’ve found every opportunity to pop back in to fawn over their cakes and sweets and indulge in their crispy, buttery and chewy croissants.
Lucky (or unlucky, depending on whether you’re rooting for my sweet tooth or the wedding dress I have to squeeze into 7.5 months from now) for me, they opened up shop just south of Yonge & York Mills last weekend. Their new storefront is a bit cozier than the downtown location but just as comfortable and chock full of goodies. Visit them at 3347 Yonge St and you’ll probably see me sipping on hot cocoa with a homemade marshmallow on top. Bonus: It’s right across the street from my go-to hair salon!
my favourite new liquid liner[line]
I’m a creature of habit and when I get stuck in a rut, I’m really stuck. I was extremely hesitant to abandon the liquid liner I use every morning to create my signature winged eyeliner, but I’m so glad I gave Revlon ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner in Black Out a try.
The applicator takes on the perfect amount of product and it draws an incredibly smooth line that is easy to control. I usually rest my elbow on a flat surface just to be safe, but I can get a great line completely freehand as well. Best of all, it’s matte. Matte! Plan for it to last all day. At $10.49, it’s about half the price of my usual liner and even more awesome.
home of all the pretty paper + gifts[line]
It only took me a few weeks at my new job to find a work wife. It was one of those situations where a mutual friend said we’d either love or hate one another and we’re happy to report it’s the former. This work wife comes with some baggage, though. She’s just as much of an enabler as I am! After watching Gillian receive numerous packages from kikki.K, an Australian stationery & gift purveyor that manages to fulfil all of my wildest stationery dreams, I made my first order. It looked like this:
Yes, that’s a gold leather planner (a5 size), the most amazing and smooth-writing gel pens adorned with gold foil accents, a precious notepad, glitzy stickers and tiny white & gold trinket bowls. Yes, I’m in heaven. The gold planner is currently on backorder and I’m so glad I got it before it went out of stock. My only problem with kikki.K is preventing myself from making yet another order. Don’t let the location keep you from ordering – considering the shipments are coming from Australia they’re remarkably fast – I got my order in less than 2 weeks! Apologies in advance for this one, guys.[line]
That’s all for now! What will you you be picking up from this week’s list?
