Weekly Enabler Report

Is everyone still with me? It’s been a long week! I’ve been busy with all things World MasterCard Fashion Week and wedding and I’m really excited to see this week come to an end. It’s been an exciting one but the bags under my eyes need some time to retreat. This week’s Enabler Report is chock-full of beautiful items that just need to be shared.

Zara swing coat Olivia Pope coat Winter 2014
I consider myself to be fairly boring when it comes to outerwear. Most of my outerwear is investment items – a Burberry trench (stone), peacoat and dress coat (black) form the basis of my coat closet. I rarely get that tingly, need-to-have-it feeling from outerwear so I stick to what I know will work. When I spotted this Zara Knit Cape with Sleeves ($149) on my friend Miranda Voth’s YouTube channel, I knew I had to have it. It fits like a swing coat and is a completely classic addition to any wardrobe. And yes, it’s only $150 for a coat that is reasonably warm and makes you put together no matter what you’re wearing underneath. I’ve deemed it the Olivia Pope coat because it’d be right at home in the Scandal protagonist’s on-screen wardrobe. And who doesn’t want to dress like Olivia Pope?

Kate Spade Lacquer Jewelry box
Remember these little beauties from the Hudson’s Bay holiday preview? They’re finally in store! These glossy boxes in cherry red, black, and my favourite Tiffany-esque blue with a golden bow will make the perfect gift – or home for a gift – for any gal on your shopping list. At $40, the Kate Spade Garden Drive Jewelry Box is a lot of bang for your buck. I know I’ll be picking up a box (or three) for myself and a few special ladies.

Working on Bloor, I often find myself shopping in the stores right outside my door instead of venturing out to the mall. When I do hit up the mall, it’s usually Yorkdale, Bayview Village or Shops at Don Mills. This past weekend, I headed to Fairview to help a girlfriend shop for her upcoming interview and ended up ducking into every single store there on our hunt for the perfect outfit.

In typical Steph fashion, I bought more than she did….including this incredibly comfortable Bouclé Cascade Collar Blazer from Ricki’s. The rich merlot & navy bouclé blazer combines the perfect colours and textures for fall in a beautiful silhouette. The spandex inserts on the sleeves and waist add both comfort and interest. It also comes in white and retails for $89.95. See what happens when you pop into stores you’d forgotten about?

J Crew Arquiste reviews
Releasing not one but two perfect, complementary and genderless fragrances with celebrated Arquiste founder Carlos Huber, J. Crew certainly knows how to make a splash. Their debut fragrances were inspired by the Peggy Guggenheim-curated Exhibition by 31 Women, the first modern art show of all female artists in the United States. The fragrances are remarkably different. No. 31 is a sweet, bright fragrance with notes of vermouth, Bulgarian rose, plum and patchouli while No. 57 is a woody fragrance meant to evoke the curved oak walls of the gallery. The more avant-garde of the two scents, it features top notes of cinnamon bark and aged whiskey.

While they can be layered, it’s Carlos’ preference that they be worn alone. In case you’re wondering, Jenna prefers No. 57…and so do I! I’ve been wearing it throughout Fashion Week and can’t get enough. I’ll admit – it wasn’t the fragrance I originally thought would resonate with me. As I started wearing it, I couldn’t stop sniffing at the spot where the rollerball had glided over my skin. It smells a bit masculine but that feels very cool-girl to a girly girl like me. Give them a try at your local J. Crew shop.

The latest Oh Joy! for Target collection is here and yes, you’re going to want to pick up a bunch of pieces. I’ve got my eye on the fa-la-la garland, gold + white table runner and the beautiful striped mint mugs. OK, and pretty much everything else in the collection as well.
