Packaged in a shiny plastic tube in the same colour as the shade within, these twist-up balms apply true-to-shade but are extremely sheer. Can we talk about the packaging again for a second? I love the little motifs on the lids – they’re too cute for words. We all know packaging is half the battle when it comes to feeling great about a lip product!

These balms promise to be conditioning and they are – the formula feels smooth and silky on the lips – not at all sticky – and doesn’t dry lips out. There is a moderately strong and lingering floral scent that you’ll either find lovely or cloying. The balms taste vaguely floral as well. I do find that once the balms wear off my lips feel a bit prune-y, like my fingers do after a long swim. They certainly don’t look it, though – they stay plump and appear hydrated.

When applied to lips, the shade will show up but you may find it’s not very persistent, depending on the colour of your lips. Mine are fairly pink so you’ll see that I get the most pop out of the lighter shades. All of the shades were fairly flattering, but I find myself gravitating towards the benebalm and chachabalm most.

Now, these balms were designed for layering and they do that beautifully. After coating on your tint – remember to work quickly – and letting it dry, smooth the balm over top for an extra bit of “wow”. The ChaCha Tint + Chachabalm combo on me is nearly electric. I find it lasts a few hours and that the balm helps to extend the tint’s colour longer than with a regular balm.

Gorgeous, right? I love how beautifully these balms work with their big-sister tints. It really adds that little something extra to the tints. I love wearing the tint on my lip and cheeks for a soft, co-ordinated look. Who ever said matchy-matchy was bad?

These Lip Tint Hydrators will be available in May 2014 at Sephora, Murale and Shoppers Drug Mart locations and will retail for $22 CAD.
