Looking for something unusual and cool to change up your usual manicure this weekend?
Try newsprint nails!
If you’re already adept at giving yourself an at-home mani, newsprint nails are a simple way to spice up your usual routine.
If you’re still learning, don’t worry! Newsprint nails are easy to achieve and can even mask some common self-mani blunders.
Step 1: Gather your materials
You’ll need:
- your favourite pale – but opaque – nail polish (I used my favourite non-neutral neutral, OPI’s discontinued Done Out In Deco)
- a top coat (I used Essie)
- 10 strips of newspaper large enough to cover your nails
- some alcohol, like vodka, in a cup. By cup, I mean shotglass – less mess and less wasted liquid courage. Learn from my mistakes here, friends!
Step 2: Paint your nails with two coats of your chosen polish
Step 3: Dip each dried nail in alcohol and immediately apply the newspaper strips
Step 4: Slowly peel off the newspaper to reveal your newsprint nails. Be careful not to smudge!
Step 5: Brush on a topcoat & let it dry completely.
Step 6: Admire your snazzy new nails! (OK, it’s not a real step, but you’re going to want to. I promise.)
