The start of the spring season feels even more triumphant this year. The first glimpses of sunshine after 5PM are almost jubilant; the moved to iced coffee a bit premature (but ever so welcome).
Pulling out favourite spring fashions and adding new pieces to my wardrobe feels like the big shift I’ve needed. I’ve been in a bit of a style rut and with return to work on the horizon, I’ve been forced to reckon with the gaps in my closet and dressing what feels like a brand new body after 2 years of pandemic – and toddler – life.
Chanel Medium Business Affinity in Grey / Tarte Cheek Stain / Zara Floral Print Shirt /AGOLDE Riley Jean / Gap Icon Denim Jacket / Veronica Beard Calisto Ruffle Collar Blouse / Quay Australia Sunglasses / Superga Sneakers
That reckoning has meant I’ve committed to stepping outside of my style comfort zone this spring with new silhouettes and pieces that make more of a statement. I’m investing in high-quality staples at the same time to ground my wardrobe. Importantly – items that no longer work for me are headed straight to Poshmark (you can shop my closet at Well.Collected).
Before I pass along a few style notes, can we take a moment to be superbly excited together about the re-launch of the iconic Tarte Cheek Stain? This was one of my first higher-end beauty buys – I wore tipsy to prom! – and it’s the beauty item I’m most excited to buy this spring. I can still remember the cool feeling of dabbing the water-based gel formula on my cheeks and how natural the flush was. Word on the street is that the formula is identical to the 00’s version, so try not to judge when I get all three shades.
- I sized up in the AGOLDE Riley jeans – they are a true rigid denim and don’t bag out, although they are comfortable. Also: button fly. You’ve been warned (but they’re worth it).
- I sized down in the Zara shirt and it’s still quite roomy.
- If you’re lusting for a Chanel bag but balk at the new $15k price tag for a medium flap, check out the Business Affinity flap bag! It’s a third of the price and perfect for everyday (and can be worn cross-body!).
I hope this inspires you to pick up some new pieces for spring!
